History, Takes me Anywhere

Why histroy? is there nothing else we can enjoy in the class? why do teachers should be so bored and old-fashioned? those questions will be rised when we ask students how they feel during history learning. I personally was drawn to history since I was in junior high school once my score was the best among the class. Now, I am a history postgraduate student in education department. As you see, I am being prepared to be history lecturer/teacher. And history learning issues will always be my concern, despite history itself. I do understand why majority students feel uncomfort upon history. It may be caused by the teachers, learning materials, curriculum, and even history itself. No body's perfect, ha? But, let's don't shift the blame. We can make better development upon history learning, particularly history teachers. In this very beginning, I just will figure out how important history to ourlives, our country and our upcoming generations, of course in my limited horizon. Since, I have read dozens of history books, the more I realize that there is a bunch of things that I don't  know! It takes me to alien state of life. Imagine, I read about Roman Empire and what comes across my mind is the battle scenes of Troy, Gladiator, Alexander the Great movies. So naive! But that's how I impress history. Using history alternative in the form of movies. Those epic movies teach us about hero, sacrifices made for nations pride, endlessness conflict but at the end love always wins (in movies). Generally speaking, as teacher you can utilize history alternative media (books, movies, novels, etc). The slightly difference between history and historical fiction lays on the package (I read much from G. Rodwell), in which historical fiction awakens sympathy from readers/viewers, in this case for students. Okay, I feel my first english writing is not properly organized. Sorry for that! Let continue, since students have learned about heroic value they'll be able to apply the things in their life. Be a hero in their own life. Hero, who does not always win! To be continued
